There are no prerequisites for taking this course. However, the content and instruction methods assume that the student has a working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.

The course is contained completely online which means you don't have to travel to a testing location to take exams. Complete all coursework and tests from any computer with an Internet connection.

Tests are not timed. However, you will automatically be logged out of the course after 15 minutes of inactivity.

This course is self-paced and several factors determine how long the course will take to complete. Some of the factors include how fast you read, how familiar you are with the subject and your determination to finish the course. An average student will take 2-3 hours to complete each chapter. Some students have completed this course in a few weeks while others have taken the full year.

Yes, upon successful completion of the course students are issued a CEU certificate as well as a letter stating their percentage and the letter grade equivalent.

Your overall grade is determined by an average of the graded exams and activities within the course. Each chapter contains a quiz that will count towards your grade. To successfully complete the course, students must achieve an average score of 70% or higher.

This is dependent on your employer or program; we tell students to check with them first if they are concerned. You can tell your employer or program that this program offers 4.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). There is an eBook version of the complete text contained within the online course. However, you will need access to the coding manuals for ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS for some exercises and exams.

Cengage Unlimited is a subscription service designed to give students taking multiple courses access to electronic textbooks and digital products. A free 14-day trial of Cengage Unlimited is included with your registration fee. This subscription is not required to complete Corexcel courses. Your registration fee includes an eBook and all content necessary to complete the online course.

Once you have completed the course, which includes completing all of the chapter tests with an overall average of 70% or better, submit the online course evaluation. Submitting the online evaluation triggers a notification to be sent to our customer service team. Upon receipt of the notification, we will verify your scores and mail your certificate to the address we have on file.

Due to the nature of online content, we cannot issue full refunds for online course access once an access code has been registered. Students may receive a partial refund within the drop/add period based on the following schedule:
